Want to save money while saving the planet? Consider making your own green cleaning products, it’s easy, cost effective and they really work! Below are 5 recipes to help you get started; most of these items you probably already have on hand. Instead of using paper towels which can get expensive and add to our landfills, consider purchasing towels and t-shirts from Goodwill or St. Vincent de Paul stores; again cost effective and you’re helping out a charity. Wash them using the laundry detergent recipe below.
boiling water.: Pour ½ cup down the drain, followed by ½ cup vinegar. After a few minutes, follow it with 6 cups of
2) Wood Floor Cleaner: Mix 2 quarts of boiling water with 2 teabags, let cool and mop as usual.
3) Furniture Polish: 2 parts olive oil to 1 part lemon juice or vinegar. Mix in spray bottle.
4) Glass Cleaner: Vinegar by itself or with a drop of liquid dish detergent.
5) Laundry Detergent: 2 cups vinegar, one cup hydrogen peroxide, 1 cup baking soda. Start washer; add vinegar and hydrogen peroxide to water, put in clothes and sprinkle baking soda on top.
