More Goings On in The Fort

Probably should have included this in my From the Fountain post, but I wasn't smart enough then. But I am now, so here we go:
  • Friday, April 22 the Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park’s production of Lilly’s Purple Plastic Purse will be performed at the Highlands High School Performing Arts Center on Friday, at 7pm.
Tickets are $7 and can be purchased at the door, at Bowman’s Frame Shop in Fort Thomas, or online atwww.showtix4u.com.

I've not seen this play, but apparently it's a great show for the little ones. From the Fort Thomas Independent Schools website:

“Every child can relate to Lilly and her efforts to do the right thing in the face of a world determined to throw baby brothers, complicated friendships and mysterious teachers in her path,” said Playhouse in the Park Director of Education Mark Lutwak. “It is one of the best modern plays ever written for children.”

  • Saturday, April 23 is the HHS Alumni Association Awards Dinner at the Highland Country Club.
Elgin Emmons, retired Highlands High School principal, will be the Keynote Speaker for the Highlands High
School Alumni Association Awards Dinner, “Welcome Back to the Nest.” Henry “Hank” E. Pogue, V will be honored as the recipient of the 2011 “Alumnus of the Year” award and Dianne Alexander is this year’s “Teacher of the Year”. The HHSAA is also pleased to announce the presentation of the inaugural “Outstanding Middle School Teacher” award to Patty Ohntrup and the “Outstanding Elementary School Teacher” award to Kathy Nestheide.

Tickets can be purchased in advance at the guidance office at Highlands High School or at the District Central Office at 28 North Fort Thomas Avenue or by contacting Linda Stapleton Slone at
859-750-9532. Tickets are $30.00 per person if purchased prior to the event. Ticket sold at the door will be $35. Tickets for high school and college students are $20.00 per student. A table of 8 can be purchased for $210. A dinner buffet will be provided and there will be a cash bar. All Highlands High School Alumni, students and Fort Thomas community members are invited to attend this special event.
