Best Pizza in Northern Kentucky

This website has been pretty PG and I'm not about to take that to the next level, without Darrin's permission. But the quote I'd love to use here about bad pizza by Mel Brooks would be so appropriate. Google it.

Anyway, it basically says there's no such thing as bad pizza and I tend to agree. I basically have the diet of a 12 year old, but I don't care. I love pizza and I'm going on a quest to find Northern Kentucky's (within a 10 mile radius of Fort Thomas) best pizza.

I know it's been done before (most recently in the November edition of Cincinnati Magazine), but I thought it would be interesting to try and find the best pizza that isn't one of the big boys (Papa John's, Pizza Hut, Dominoes, Donatos, etc.)

And as much as I love it, LaRosa's (or as my friend Courtney from Lexington calls it - Kings Island Pizza) is out as well.

We'll come up with a standard criteria and grade each one to crown a pizza king by the end of the year. So far we're thinking Ft. Thomas Pizza, 915, The Midway, Buona Vita, Newport Pizza Co, Bourbon Pizza House, Fatty Patty's and Raniero's.

We'd love to hear your suggestions and if you'd like to join us, by all means, let's make it a party.

  1. Mellow Mushroom in Wilder or is that too much of a chain?

  2. Peppercini's (sp?) in Silver Grove is killer!

  3. Pepperoncini's in Silver Grove won the Northern Kentucky Pizza Challenge last year. Great Pizza with a nice selection of draft beer.

  4. Dewey's. Hands down.

  5. Newport Pizza Company..

Professional service, great selection of craft beer in the cooler (no draft, though), and the owner is usually on the premises..

    And the pizza? A-One!!

    2)Buona Vita
    4)Fort Thomas Pizza

We really have an embarrassment of riches when it comes to pizza.. We never have to eat the mass market crap (that's for the kids)

  6. Noce's in Edgewood. New York Style White Pizza=Heaven

  7. Newport Pizza Company...very much like Dewey's but easier to get to and cheaper.

  8. Can't wait to do some research!

  9. A little bird has advised that Mio's has signed a contract to take on the property where Warner's / Pergolla's use to be. Mio's use to be very good.

  10. I had Mellow Mushroom today. Yummy, but a lot like Dewey's in the gourmet pizza category.

  11. Without a doubt it is Dewey's. My fav is the Billy Goat, substitute the bacon for the green peppers. We call it the "Billy Bacon" die for!

  12. Mark - let us know how we can participate! Would be fun to join in the fun...

  13. I sure will. I think the first on the list will be Ft. Thomas Pizza this Wednesday at 6:00. Come one, come all, leave with a pizza coma.

I'll have some criteria and everyone that comes can participate by judging independently.
