It's Happening In Fort Thomas (Update from Debbie Buckley)

Amphitheater Concerts! Robin Lacy & DeZydeco will be performing at the Amphitheater at 7:00 Tuesday evening!!! This terrific band is sure to bring a crowd. Bring your blankets, chairs, a picnic, or enjoy hamburgers and hotdogs brought to you by the Fort Thomas Museum volunteers!

Farmers' Market! When those precious little zucchini and summer squash started showing up last week, it was obvious summer has really come! Tomatoes were flying! Lots of onions, lettuce, spinach, kale, cucumbers too. And of course, the bread, cheese, wine! The dressings, dipping oils, salsas, olive oils. And the lotions, creams, natural detergent and lip balms. The natural dog treats. THEN the fabulous jams and jellies, honey, homemade coffee cakes, brownies, pickles, relishes, and soup starters. To set off your table, there were lots of beautiful flowers and plants as well. And then the herbs . . .

Congratulations! To the Fort Thomas Forest Conservancy group for a spectacular Garden Tour! All the volunteers outdid themselves. And to the Museum Committee who kept the Museum open during the Tour just a week after a very successful Antique Show. Fort Thomas has the very best volunteers!!!!

Independence Day Celebration! June 30 is coming soon!!! This year's event is even bigger! The Classic Car Show; a Nationally Sanctioned Cornhole Tournament; Hot Wax Band; Inflatables, Pony Rides, Petting Zoo for the Kids; Food, Beer, Wine! Time: 3:00-10:00 pm at Tower Park. Be watching for the details on the Cornhole Tournament! And get those throwing arms ready--this is going to be open to all you folks willing to take a risk!!!!!

  1. Has anyone else noticed in the past few years of 4th at the Fort or independence day celebration whatever you choose to call it that it is going downhill? It used to be really really big, fireworks lots of rides, lots of boothes and so much more now its like 10 to 15 boothes and the activities are going down hill. The whole park used to be filled with activities and boothes for the celebration. Whats going on with the 4th at the Fort/independence day celebration? should we have it? or how can we take it back up a notch?

  2. I think moving it to Saturday will accomplish a lot of what you say is missing...

I never stuck around for the fireworks, as I had to get up early for work the next morning.

  3. Well, 4th at the Fort was much easier to rememer than the new name. Plus, last year I forgot about the event since it wasn't on the 4th of July. Since it always seemed to be logical to follow the parade up to the Fort for the festivities, it doesn't make any sense to me why they moved it from the actual 4th of July except that the 4th isn't on a weekend for several years. We won't be going because we've been invited else where for parties this weekend (non-4th of July). I miss the 4th of July at the Fort.
