Ft. Thomas Library Hosts 'Accidental Friends' Performance

The Ft. Thomas Library is hosting a play from Playhouse in the Park's "Off the Hill" series. The "Off the Hill" series takes its name literally - the performances move out of the playhouse and into various venues throughout the Greater Cincinnati area. You can catch the performance of Accidental Friends at 2:00pm on Saturday, November 3, 2012 at the Ft. Thomas/Carrico Branch.

Accidental Friends is geared toward tweens between the ages of seven and thirteen. The library's Teen Programmer, Mike Fair, has shared some of the play's details with Ft. Thomas Matters. According to Fair, "When Jonathan, who loves sports, is sidelined by an injury, the only classmate brave enough to visit him in the hospital is Hilda, a quirky loner. Her relentless encouragement teaches him valuable lessons about the importance of looking beyond appearances." Cincinnati Arts Association described the play as "funny but moving."

The play addresses many issues relating to tweens today, and especially focuses on bullying. Statistics show that over 13 million American kids are bullied each year. This play can certainly help educate the community, and Ft. Thomas tweens in particular, on the impact of bullying.

The performance is free and open to the public, but the library requests that you register for the event on their website
