A new
feature has been unveiled by Facebook.
It is a feature that you may not even be aware of. The Facebook.com/us
is a separate Facebook page dedicated to your relationship. The page only exists if you are in a
relationship or married, and it displays common likes, friends, check-ins, and
pictures that you and your significant other share. Neither person in the relationship has to
sign off on the page; it is created and updated automatically.

The
update was announced on November eighth by Facebook, and it has come under some
scrutiny by some Facebook users. It is
viewed as a violation of privacy in that the page is created automatically.
Facebook
officials have said, “Anyone who uses Facebook owns and controls the content
and information they post, as stated in our terms. They control how that content and information
is shared. That is our policy, and it
always has been.”
To ease
your minds regarding this new Facebook feature, the security on the “relationship
page” follows that of the couple in the relationship. If you have your security set to private only
the friends of both members in the couple are able to view the Facebook.com/us
relationship page. The new page is
essentially an extension of the “see friendship” under the actions or setting
button on your Facebook page, which was introduced in 2010.
If your
Facebook security settings are set properly then the new Facebook.com/us will
only be viewed by your friends, and is just an automatic feature that shows
your relationship history and commonalities.
If you
are in a relationship check it out for yourself. Go to Facebook.com/us and you’ll be directed
to your very own relationship page. What
are your thoughts on this feature? Do
you like it, or do you think it is a violation of the ownership of your
Facebook account? Let us know in the
comments below or go to our very own Facebook page.
