Save the Date: November 24th is Small Business Saturday
You might think that the Saturday after Thanksgiving is finally a time to recover from Black Friday's retail marathon, and a time to relax after indulging in too much pumpkin pie (don't worry, we won't judge you). Well, I'm here to tell you that you'll have to hold off on relaxing until Sunday. Instead of lounging around watching holiday movies on Lifetime (once again, we here at Ft. Thomas Matters won't judge you…too much), get off the couch and shop local.
Small Business Saturday first burst onto the shopping scene in 2010. This shopping holiday was initially promoted by American Express, and has grown in popularity over the past two years. The shop local trend has been embraced nationwide, and has also hit our town.
A few local businesses will be offering special discounts on Small Business Saturday. Best Furniture will have some special discounts, The Blue Marble will be offering E-Readers for a discount price of $49.99, and Marshall Granger Jewelers' current 20% off sale will be running on Small Business Saturday. If you know of more special offers happening on November 24th, let us know in the comments below or on our Facebook page.
If you need to refuel for your local shopping trips, remember to keep it local. Maybe start the day with breakfast from Ft. Thomas Coffee and then lunch at one of the town's great restaurants. Skip that trip to a fast food chain for some local cuisine.
Small Business Saturday is a great opportunity to support local shops. Our local businesses are an asset to the community overall, and their products would be great for gifts throughout the holiday season.
Here are some deals to take advantage of from our advertisers:
We are currently offering a legitimate 25% discount on all frame moldings that we sell. This will end after Small Business Saturday. This means that the frame portion of every order is 25% less. Especially good deal if framing canvas with no mats or glass, but substantial savings on all orders.
Craig and Carolynn Reis held their 2nd Annual Feast For Your Home event last week. As always, it was a wonderful event. See their note below:
Our 2nd annual Feast For Your Home event was a huge success! A big thank you to all of our attendees, supporters, and local businesses who helped make this year's Brighton Center fundraiser even better than the first. Thank you to the Brighton Center for all that they do in our community, we are very fortunate to partner with such a great organization.
