Guess Pat's Steps: National Walking Day

Spring, it seems, is about to live up to its name and feel, well, spring-like. Finally. This past weekend provided a gorgeous backdrop for an Easter holiday, and this week promises even more reason to insist on living as if Spring has fully sprung: Opening Day today, a forecast that looks like this all week (ignore today's outlook... it's already half-over, anyway), and National Walking Day on Wednesday.

National Walking Day is put on by the American Heart Association, who offers free materials on how to get yourself or your office on your feet on a daily basis.

We at FTM are excited to celebrate National Walking Day this year by giving away a free FTM t-shirt! Here's how you win:

FTM's newest reporter and devoted pedestrian - Pat LaFleur - will be wearing a pedometer all week long. He will wear it whenever he is out in public or at work (but not around the house) Mon 4/1 - Fri 4/5 (at 5 PM). Guess how many total steps Pat takes over the course of the week by the closest margin, and you've got yourself a FTM tee!

Walking is clearly a favorite form of exercise among Fort Thomas residents. On a drive down Ft. Thomas Ave. on Saturday, Mark counted over 60 people out strolling through town.

As of this posting, Pat's taken 792 steps. 4 1/2 more days to go!

For updates on Pat's progress, follow @FortThomasMatters on Twitter and Facebook.

  1. 792? Is Pat a shut-in? Pat, get over your agoraphobia and join the outside world. You should be walking 10,000 steps per day, on average.
