Fort Thomas July Yard of the Month

Brought to you by Fort Thomas Florist

Congratulation to John and Cathy Burt of S. Fort Thomas Avenue. They are July's winner of the Fort Thomas Yard of the Month.

According to John Messmer II of the Ft. Thomas Florist, "The patriotic theme was appropriate for the month of July. They incorporated American flags with red white and blue flowers. The Ft Thomas July 4th parade goes by the Burt's residence and the overall patriotic theme was very fitting and eye- catching from the road and sidewalk.  The yard certainly contributes to the charm of the Ft. Thomas community this Independence Day!"

The Burts' will receive a gift card to Ft. Thomas Florist, the Yard of the Month sign for July and recognition on both Fort Thomas Matters and in Fort Thomas Living. If you'd like to nominate a yard for August, be sure to visit Ft. Thomas Florist, their Facebook page or the Fort Thomas Matters Facebook page.

For July, Ft. Thomas Florist is offering a buy one get one free on all annuals! That includes hanging baskets, 6" pots, vegetables, herbs, geraniums, inpatients, periwinkle, blue salvia, begonias and many more.

Messmer also added a tip for those aspiring agriculturists: "Water in the morning to help plants survive the heat. At the time be careful to not over water Also now is a great time to prune or cut back any annuals in need of attention."

  1. I used to live in Charleston, South Carolina and they did this Yard of the Month. It brought the community so close together!

It was very competitive but the residents loved it. This is such a good idea. Thank you Fort Thomas Florist and Ft. Thomas Matters.
