Fort Thomas Van Damme It's Friday Links (FREE Chick-Fil-A for a YEAR,Find Out How)

It's been a while since we've done our weekly "Van Damme It's Friday" Links. For our newer readers who have joined us since our first issue of The Fort Thomas Living was delivered, our "VDIF" links highlight what's coming up or newsworthy events of the past week.

-We are Cash Mobbing the Farmer's Market today! If you haven't been yet, it's time to go. Cash Mob Norwood, Ohio has selected OUR Farmer's Market to promote. Let's show them how the FTM family can mobilize.

It's 3-7 TODAY at Warden Realty (Corner of Highland/Fort Thomas). Hint: Park at Fort Thomas Central. While you're there, check out what Barb Thomas has. Tell her FTM sent you!

If you are unfamiliar with what a #Cashmob is, check out what FTM did for Blue Marble Books. Click here.

- Congrats to Fort Thomas Coffee on their one year anniversary! They have truly ingrained themselves into a community hub. Thanks for being here, David and Lori.

- FTM Sports Guru, G. Michael Graham, is out of town right now so I'm sure when he gets back he'll have more to report on this, but Highlands Football's first game will be nationally televised.

The Bluebirds will host the University Christian High School Christians from Jacksonville, Florida on ESPNU on Saturday, August 24.  Both teams are defending state champions.

Highlands is one of only 26 teams nationwide to be selected to participate in the 4th annual ESPN High School Football Kickoff. Tickets are $4 Students / $6 Adults. Ticket presales begin Wednesday, August 21, in the main office from 8:30am until 3pm.  Tickets will also be available at the gates before the game.
The game is scheduled to begin at 3:30pm and is open to the public.
- Keeping with the sports theme, HHS 2011 graduates Patrick Towles and Austin Sheehan are both with their second Head Coach at the University of Kentucky and doing well with the new, up-tempo scheme.
Patrick is battling for the starting spot at Quarterback and Austin is getting reps with the first and second team offense. In an article in the Danville Advocate Messenger, writer Larry Vaught mentioned Sheehan in his mailbag roundup:
Question: Is there a walk-on receiver you think could play a significant role next season?
Offensive Coordinator Neal Brown: “I think Austin Sheehan did a nice job and really had a good spring. He didn’t catch as many balls in the spring game as we would have liked him to have, but I thought he had a solid spring at the receiver position.”
- Hopefully you caught Ben's article in the latest Fort Thomas Living on Michael Bradford, who was killed while serving in Afghanistan. If you'd like to honor him further, we'd be happy to take up the effort of raising funds for a memorial bench.
Bricks near the water tower have been purchased in his and Brandon Pickering's memory, but there are two benches available in the Midway Business District for $556. Please contact us if interested.
- And finally, Chick Fil A is opening in 6 days. 8-8-13. And if you can be the first 100 customers, you can get FREE Chick Fil A for a year! The line will officially start at 6:00 AM August 7th. Here are the official rules here.

If you are planning on camping out, let FTM know. We'd love a correspondent there.
