Brought to you by Ft. Thomas Florist and GreenhousesIn the words of our latest recipient, Patty Kattenhorn, receiving the Ft. Thomas Florist Yard of the Month designation is like, "winning the lottery!!!" At least, that is how she described it as she showed off her yard to her favorite greenhouse growers, Mitch Messmer and John Messmer II, when they surprised her with the award earlier this week. Residents of Chalfonte Street for over 50 years, Patty does all of the gardening herself; one of her favorite past times.

Messmer said of the Kattenhorn's yard, "It's a beautiful mixture of well maintained annuals and perennials. The front yard and porch had blooming flowers everywhere. The yard décor which included statues, plaques, and one of a kind bottle towers, was a beautiful accent to the many blooming flowers. This yard was not the largest but almost every inch was well kept. Not only was this home inviting because of the beautiful plants and flowers but the smiling faces of Mr. and Mrs. Kattenhorn was an added bonus to this yard."
Aside from the abundance of annuals of all varieties and colors, the Kattenhorn yard boasts eclectic charm and character unique to its owners. Obviously a natural green thumb, Patty even has a poinsettia she has nurtured since last holiday season and is in perfect condition; on track to bloom again this winter! As longstanding customers of the Ft. Thomas Florist, we are honored to announce the Kattenhorn's as the September Yard of the Month recipient! And if we are lucky, maybe Patty will give us some pointers some time.
TIPS FROM THE PROS AT FT. THOMAS FLORIST:
Now is a great time to replace those tired looking annuals and replace them with some falls colors. The flowers of the fall season include mums in all sizes and colors, cabbage, kale, asters, ornamental peppers and pansies. The Ft Thomas Florist will continue to award Yards of the Month until the end of the year. In the upcoming weeks pumpkins, straw, cornstalks, gourds, indian corn, and much more fall décor will be available.
