Kiddie College joins FTM

As was originally reported in Fort Thomas Matters back in early summer (see article here), the newest child care facility in town, Kiddie College (third facility in Northern Kentucky, owned by Derrick and Susie Plunkett and located on Memorial Parkway in the prior Kingdom Hall building), is now fully up and running and, in this week’s FTM Sponsor Spotlight highlighting one of our many advertising partners, we thought it appropriate to check in on how they’re doing from the perspective of a mom using this service provider: Kate, Craig and Sullivan Stephens

FTM: What was it like as a first time mom knowing you'd have to look for daycare?
Stephens: Scary. I always pictured myself staying home with my children, but Craig (spouse) and I both knew it wasn't feasible once we sat down and looked at our financial situation.

FTM: How did you land on Kiddie College as your provider?
Stephens: I was so discouraged. Throughout my pregnancy I literally looked at six daycares in the area, none of which lived up to our expectations. Towards the end of my maternity leave, we were nervous we wouldn't find a place to take Sullivan. Then, suddenly, we heard that a new daycare was opening - Kiddie College! I know other moms can relate when I say that I just had a good feeling after leaving the open house at KC.

FTM: How have their made your transition easier?
Stephens: They have not only been amazing with Sullivan, but they put up with me loitering for up to a half an hour in the morning when I drop him off and 10-15 minutes in the afternoon when I pick him up. Oh, did I mention I call there every day to see how my little man is doing? Suzy and the other girls are so patient with us. They know I am a new mom and that leaving his side is difficult. Suzy has taken time to call or text to reassure me he is taken care of.

FTM: What do you think differentiates Kiddie College from other facilities that you looked for?
Stephens: The teachers. They WANT to be there taking care of my child and other children. They are professional, organized and extremely flexible. If I have a bad night or morning, they turn it around and get him back on track. I wrote a list of things we were working on: stretching feedings, tummy time, head control, etc. and they are willing to help us with that.

So, there you have it straight from the words of an impressed patron and mom.  The child care decision is such an important and difficult one and Stephens’ path to finding the right child care facility (visiting six different ones and being discouraged by each) is not an uncommon one.  That’s not to say that the other facilities that Stephens visited were sub-par, but finding the right “fit” between facility and parent is crucial.  It is fantastic to have another great option right here in Fort Thomas.  Welcome to the community, Kiddie College, and welcome to the FTM family of sponsors!
Sullivan is happy with his parents decision

  1. Sullivan is famous! Good article and nice interview!

  2. What a cutie. Good call on Kiddie College- we are making the same leap as this mom in the next few months.

  3. I love this daycare! It looks so much nicer then any of the others around and makes you feels so comfortable, being there! I love it.

  4. I am thinking of sending my child here. Do people still recommend it?

    1. I know they are always full. I can personally attest to their work.
