Opticare Vision Centers is a member of the #FTMFamily |
It is the start of the New Year so if you’re anything like
my husband, you have one thing in mind: vision benefits! (I wish I were joking
but I’m not- he owns eight pairs of glasses). A new calendar year represents new vision benefits and here
to help (and DISCOUNT) your vision care and lens purchase is another member of
the FTM advertising family: Opticare Vision Centers.
The practice was started in Newport more than 30 years ago
by Drs. Ronald Cooke and George Landon and has since passed to Drs. Keith
Sellers and Josiah Young. Dr.
Young, Ft. Thomas resident for the past five years along with his wife
Elizabeth, is an Ohio State University College of Optometry 2009 graduate. He provided some answers to our
questions so we, the readers and community, could get to know his practice a
little better.
FTM: What do you do/service do you provide? What makes you unique?
“We are a "full service" eye care practice. That
means we do regular eye exams, glasses and contacts, but we also do Diabetic
exams and emergency visits […]. Dr. Sellers specializes in treatment of ocular
disease and the increasingly popular CRT […]. I like to focus on pediatrics and
vision therapy. Studies have shown that about 1 in 4 children have a vision
problem. I specialize in diagnosis and treatment of binocular vision disorders
in children that are often the cause of problems with school and athletic
performance
FTM: What makes you unique?
I started a vision therapy clinic in our office in 2010.
Since then we've seen a large amount of kids (and some adults) successfully
treat their binocular vision problem with therapy. Our office is one of very
few in the area that specialize in binocular vision disorders.
FTM: What has the local community meant to you and your business
One of the things that I have tried to do since I began
seeing patients at Opticare is to spread the word about us being a locally
owned small business. We're not a large chain, so we don't have the advertising
dollars to get the word out. But we feel the best eye care is done by
independent doctor’s offices like us, who aren't dictated by corporate earnings
or deals with manufacturers to push specific products. We truly want to provide
the best care for each and every patient that walks in our door. The people who
come into our office are our family, friends and colleagues.
I feel like the Fort Thomas community will rally to support
a local small business. So we want to communicate to your readers that we have
been serving Northern Kentucky for over 30 years, we're a local small business
that is doctor-owned. And the doctors/owners live in Fort Thomas.
FTM: Do you have any events coming up or other things FTM should
mention?
We've been in the same Carothers Road building for 25 years, and last
year we did a remodel of the office. The remodel not only included the look and
feel of the office, it also included bringing in some newer eyeglasses frame
lines like Coach, Nine West, Tommy Hilfiger, Vera Bradley, and more. So we
spruced up our glasses offerings as well!
As a gift to FTM readers, Opticare Vision Centers is
offering a 20% DISCOUNT off the next
eyeglasses purchase by mentioning this FTM article (not combinable with any
other offers/discounts). For more
information, visit their website
or their Newport location at 59 Carothers Road.
