Pete Garrett has filed papers for his re-election bid for a second term for District 2 Campbell County Commissioner.
Garrett, 59, of California is a lifelong resident of Campbell County and has operated his business, Peter Garrett Gunsmiths, Inc. in Newport for over 35 years to present.
According to his press release, "Garrett was instrumental in bringing about change in Newport, laying the groundwork for the revival happening today."
He has been an active member of the Campbell County Republican Party since 1972 and has been the Secretary since 2008 to present. Pete also serves on the Campbell County Conservancy and is the representative to the Soil Conservation District, which has preserved hundreds of acres of green space for public use over the last 6 years.
Also according to his press release, "As the owner of a successful business, Pete understands the fiscal responsibility of County Government. He is willing and able to work with others regardless of political affiliation to improve Campbell County and keep it a great place to live. As a resident of rural South County and a business owner in Newport, he has a unique understanding of the needs of the entire County."
Garrett will be opposed in the primary election by Charlie "Coach" Coleman.
