With 3 Weeks to Deadline, 3 Have Filed for Fort Thomas City Council

Current Fort Thomas City Council (L to R Tom Lampe, Roger Peterman, Eric Haas, Mary Brown, Lisa Kelly, Jay Fossett, Ken Bowman)

With just under 3 weeks until the deadline to file for the primary election in May, 3 people have filed to run for the Fort Thomas City Council. Of the 3 people who have filed, none of them currently sit on the 6-person council. Of all the other Campbell County river cities, only Newport (4) currently have had more people file for council election.

Anthony Bonomini (Rossford) was the first to file in early December. Since then, he's been joined by Jeff Bezold (W. Kimberly) and Paul Whalen (Ridgeway). Whalen is also the Chairman for the Democrats in Campbell County.

If conventional wisdom holds true, there will be at least 2 new members of council. Current councilman, Tom Lampe, will vacate his seat as he runs for the 3rd District County Commissioner. The other seat could be given up by Mayor Pro-Tem, Eric Haas. While it hasn't been announced, it's been long rumored that this could be Mayor Mary Brown's last term at the helm. Presumably, Haas would run to fill Mayor Brown's seat.

Brown was elected to council in 1977 and has been Mayor since 1999.

All of the other current members of council are thought to seek reelection. The primary election is May 20, 2014. The general election is November 4, 2014.
