El Día de los Niños celebrates international cultures April 26
COLD SPRING, KY (April 15) – Families are invited to attend El Día de los Niños, a celebration of children, families, and reading at the Campbell County Public Library from noon- 3 p.m. Saturday, April 26, at the Cold Spring branch. Everyone can enjoy face painters, multicultural crafts and worldly food. Plan to arrive early to receive a free book, available while supplies last.
Origami artist Jonathan Heart will teach children how to make amazing creations throughout the afternoon and special guest Curious George will lead a Spanish story time at 12:30 p.m. At 2 p.m. the Afrikan-American Drum and Dance Ensemble will give a traditional African drum and dance performance.
“We are thrilled to host an event that celebrates the important role families and literacy play in every culture,” said Ashley Wright, children’s services librarian at the Cold Spring branch. “We are looking forward to a day of fun and exploring different cultures with experiences, stories and food. Our special guest, Curious George, is excited to join us for the afternoon.”
This is the fifth year the Campbell County Public Library has hosted an El Día celebration. The celebration emphasizes the importance of literacy for children of all linguistic and cultural backgrounds.
