Ginger Webb, the district's Assistant Superintendent for Teaching and Learning, will also attend the workshop.
Math Teachers’ Circles are professional development communities of mathematics teachers and mathematicians who meet regularly to work on rich math problems. They provide teachers their own forum to enrich their knowledge of mathematics and share ideas about pedagogy, while building long-term, meaningful partnerships with other math teachers and mathematicians in surrounding communities.
“We are extremely thrilled about this opportunity. We have a great group going... everyone is enthusiastic about education and also about his or her own professional growth," Terlau said.
Terlau also described plans to start a Math Teachers' Circle here in Northern Kentucky. Circles traditionally begin with a workshop in the summer, followed by monthly meetings throughout the academic year.
"We are going to meet so many new people and learn so much about the teaching of mathematics to 21st century learners,” she said.
The Math Teachers' Circle workshop, which is organized by the American Institute of Mathematics, will take place in late June.
