(May 5, 2014) The Johnson Elementary School Site-Based Decision Making Council (SBDMC) has selected Tonya Brummer as principal of Johnson Elementary School. Brummer is presently the assistant principal at Beechgrove Elementary School in Independence, Kentucky.
Brummer earned her bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education and her master’s degree in Instructional Leadership from Northern Kentucky University. Her educational career includes experience as an elementary classroom teacher, instructional coach and curriculum consultant.
Members of the Johnson Site-Based Decision Making Council were very impressed with Brummer.
Council member and teacher Karma Klingenberg stated, “The council is very pleased with the selection of Mrs. Brummer. With her elementary background and experience, we feel that she is the perfect fit for the Johnson family and will prove to be a strong leader who will continue to promote excellence at Johnson Elementary.”
Superintendent Gene Kirchner stated, “It is indeed a pleasure to welcome Tonya Brummer to Fort Thomas. She is a proven instructional leader and an excellent communicator. I am extremely confident that under her leadership, the students and staff at Johnson Elementary will achieve great things. I would also thank each of the Johnson SBDM council members whose dedication and commitment to obtaining the best principal for their school was clearly evident throughout the entire selection process.”
Brummer added, “I am extremely excited to join the Fort Thomas team as principal of Johnson Elementary School! Meeting staff, students and families of the Johnson community is what I am looking forward to next.”
An introduction reception for Johnson Elementary parents and community members will be held on Monday, May 12, 2014, from 4-6pm in the library.
Brummer will succeed Principal Jon Stratton who accepted a position as assistant superintendent for student services in the district’s central office. Brummer will begin serving as principal on July 1, 2014.
