Passenger in Memorial Parkway Vehicle Crash Passes Away

Robert Cowie, who was injured in a two-car collision on Memorial Parkway last Wednesday, died from his injuries yesterday at University Hospital.

Cowie's grandson, Randy Runyan, was also killed in the crash. Runyan was the 2011 Highlands valedictorian and had just finished his junior year at Wake Forest University.

A memorial scholarship fund has been established in Runyan's honor. Donations can be made at any Fifth Third Bank location under the Randall Clinton Runyan scholarship fund.

Robert E. Cowie, 78, of Fort Thomas, passed away on May 21, 2014 at University Hospital, Cincinnati, OH. He was a warehouse worker with Dixie Whole Sale, Covington, KY. Mr. Cowie was a member of the Catholic War Vets and the Catholic Order of Foresters. He loved to smoke his pipe and was an avid fan of the U.C. Bearcats, the Reds and the Bengals.

Visitation 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm, Friday, May 23, 2014 at Dobbling Funeral Home, 106 South Ft. Thomas Ave., Fort Thomas, KY 41075. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:00 am Saturday, May 24, 2014, at the Holy Spirit Parish, 825 Washington Ave., Newport, Kentucky 41071, with Msgr. William F. Cleves, officiating. Burial will take place in the St. Stephen Cemetery Fort Thomas, Kentucky. Memorials are suggested to the Randall Clinton Runyan Scholarship Fund at any Fifth Third Bank location.
