HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. (WKRC) -- A Fort Thomas police officer has a close call this morning while assisting a nearby crash Monday morning. A man fell asleep on his way to work this morning on I-275 west near I-471 at about 5:30 a.m.
The car went into the woods, and landed upside down in a creek. The rushing water woke the man up, who then kicked out the windshield and escaped safely.
A Fort Thomas police officer arrived to help. He put his lights on but was side-swiped by another car. No one was hurt.
We will update this story.
