SPECIAL EDITION: Complete Guide to Campbell County Primary Elections


Campbell County voters will head to the polls on Tuesday to decide which candidates facing primary elections will advance to the General Election in November.

In Campbell County, 13 county-level primary elections will take place. See below for a full list of candidates.

FTM has worked hard to bring you more Campbell County campaign news than any other source. As Tuesday approaches, here's a recap of everything you need to know before casting your ballot:


Campbell County Judge-Executive Republican Primary

The race for the Republican Judge-Executive nomination, between incumbent Steve Pendery and challenger Kevin Sell, has probably been the most contentious and gathered the most attention throughout the campaign. The two men have faced off before, last time in the 2010 Judge-Executive contest.

The winner will face Democrat and current County Commissioner Ken Rechtin in November.

Campbell County Sheriff Primary


Candidates debate at a public forum
earlier this month.
Both parties will decide Tuesday which of their candidates will vie for Campbell County Sheriff's office. Incumbent Jeff Kidwell will face Mike Jansen for the Republican spot, while Scott Hildebrand and Michael O'Day will compete for the Democratic nomination.

The winners of each primary will face off in November.

Campbell County Commissioner Primaries

Campbell County Fiscal Court -- the county's legislative body -- is comprised of three commissioners representing three districts across the county. The Judge-Executive oversees the proceedings of the Fiscal Court.

Candidates from each district will compete in a primary on Tuesdsay:

District One (Republican):

- Brian Painter*
- Gail Otto

Winner will face Democrat Rene Heinrich in November.

District Two (Republican):

- Charlie "Coach" Coleman
- Pete Garrett*

Winner will face Democrat Melanie Pelle in November.

District Three (Democrat):

- David Amanns
- Mark Ramler

Winner will face Republican, and current Fort Thomas City Councilman Tom Lampe in November.
