Tower Park to Host Northern Kentucky Music Lengends Hall of Fame
On June 5, 2014, Tower Park will host the Northern Kentucky Music Legends Hall of Fame induction ceremony. The day's events will not only include the induction ceremony, but will also feature a concert and a museum exhibit.
According to the City of Fort Thomas website, an array of local talent will be celebrated during the induction ceremony. “The inductees this year are: Dave Otto, the man behind every single headliner’s backstage pass, poster and program for years; Gary Burbank, the voice of WLW’s Earl Pitts and a promoter of local music for years; Mike Hodges, a drummer who did world tours with Adrian Belew and David Bowie; Dennis Hensley, owner of a recording studio who made a lot of big national names; New Lime Band featuring Mickey Foellger; Panny Sarakatsannis owner of the famous Dixie Chili as well as a guitarist for a lot of local bands; and Billy Hinds, a drummer who played with the original Pure Prairie League.”
The Northern Kentucky Music Legends Hall of Fame will also be working exclusively with the Fort Thomas Military and Community Museum to create an exhibit featuring artifacts related to the Hall of Fame inductees. John Mendell, Ft. Thomas resident and Hall of Fame board member, spoke with Cincinnati.com about the exhibit. “We're going to have an exhibit in the museum, old pictures and posters, and some of their instruments, too,” said Mendell. The exhibit will open on June 5, 2014, and run through September 27, 2014.
For fans of Rosemary Clooney, make sure to check out the museum exhibit. Mendell told Cincinnati.com that “the family will also send a surprise piece of memorabilia from Rosemary's collection to be on display at the museum.” Clooney was inducted last year in the Hall of Fame, but members of the Clooney family were unable to attend the ceremony. This year, a family member will be attending the ceremony.
The Northern Kentucky Music Legends Hall of Fame is not only focused on showcasing exceptional local talent. They are also working to help foster young talent. The Hall of Fame will be creating a Northern Kentucky Music Legends Scholarship fund, which will be made available to Northern Kentucky University students.
Make sure to join local musicians and music fans at Tower Park on June 5th. The event kicks off at 6:00pm at the park's Amphitheater with the induction ceremony. Following the induction ceremony, local bands will hit the stage. Food and drinks will be available for purchase thanks to Fort Thomas Pizza. The event is free and open to the public. Attendees are also welcome to make a donation to the Hall of Fame during the ceremony and accompanying concert.
