The Newport Aquarium just got one of the coolest shout-outs ever, from the Discovery Channel's Shark Week.
As part of "Shark Week" -- Discovery Channel's wildly popular, annual, week-long marathon of programming devoted to the deadly sea creatures -- the network posted to their blog on Tuesday a list of "10 Ways to (Safely) Get Close to Sharks," and the Newport Aquarium topped the list.
Describing it as an "unforgettable experience," the post featured the Newport Aquarium's Overnight Adventure, an event that allows groups to spend the night inside the aquarium, exploring the exotic animal exhibits and -- most notably -- camping out in the famed underwater tunnel, looking into the aquarium's shark tank.
At Overnight Adventure, visitors can "sink your teeth into some great shark facts and sleep safely as they swim above you. Every Overnight Adventure includes exclusive aquarium access, animal-themed games and activities -- plus, you'll sleep surrounded by amazing sea life -- like sharks!" Newport Aquarium spokesperson Jeff Geiser told Discovery Channel News.
