BREAKING: Duke Energy Reporting Wide-Spread Outages in Campbell County

UPDATE: Duke is now reporting no outages in Campbell County. [9/8/14 3:00 p.m. E.D.T.]

Duke Energy is currently reporting on their outages page that Campbell County is currently experiencing nearly 1,500 outages. In Fort Thomas, this includes the high school and middle school buildings, as well as much of the properties on and around N. Fort Thomas Avenue, at least.

FTM has received reports of a downed tree near Johnson Elementary as a possible contributing factor to the outages in the city. This has not been confirmed by Duke, however.

The Newport Pavilion Kroger and US Bank are also reported to be without power. Kroger is currently cash only, and not selling refrigerated goods during the outage.

As the chart below indicates, the outages are highly localized in Campbell County, with 1,498, of 1,739, outages total:

It is possible that the outages in the county have been caused by multiple, unrelated incidents.

Duke has indicated it could be a matter of hours before power is fully restored.

FTM will update this story as it develops.
