City staff met with the Kentucky Heritage Council and a team of engineers last week to discuss the logistics of obtaining bids from developers, as well as to establish a working timeline for the project's completion:
Oct. 2, 2014 – Legal notice soliciting interest from qualified developers to be advertised and letters sent to prospective developers.
Oct. 16, 2014 – Letters of interest from qualified developers due.
Oct. 16-31, 2014 – City in conjunction with CT Engineering creates a list of qualified developers.
Nov. 1-Dec. 31, 2014 – Qualified developers prepare their bids.
Nov. 1-15, 2014 – Provide access to site for qualified developers.
Jan. 5, 2015 – Bids are due.
Jan. 5-16, 2015 – CT Engineering reviews bids and prepares recommendation to city.
Jan. 20, 2015 – City awards bid contingent upon VA’s approval.
Jan. 23, 2015 – City submits request to VA for approval to accept bidder’s abatement contractor and proposed cost of abatement.
March 23, 2015 – Estimated approval date from VA for approval to accept bidder’s abatement contractor. City authorizes bidder to proceed with abatement.
Aug. 24, 2015 – Completion date for abatement.
Aug. 26, 2015 – City submits request for approval of abatement work and the establishment of a date to transfer property from VA to City to Developer.
Nov. 20, 2015 – Estimated date for transfer of ownership to City then immediately to bidder.
Nov. 23, 2015 – Work can begin to restore and rehabilitate structures.
Fall, 2016 – Homes to be occupied.
It would be very helpful to find out if there is a place where people can get on a waiting list to purchase one of these houses.
