Commissioner Candidate: Use Lakeside Money to Build "Multi-Purpose" Facility in Southern Campbell County

By Melanie Steidel Pelle// Press Release

There is a need for the Campbell Fiscal Court to provide attention to all areas of the county.  In order to do this, the Fiscal Court needs to begin partnering with groups and agencies in order to make things “happen.”  If elected, as your Commissioner, I will ask the Fiscal Court to use the million dollars from the sale of Lakeside, to build a new multi-purpose facility for Southern Campbell County on the site of the proposed library south of Alexandria on U.S. 27.  Working with the Campbell County Library, I am suggesting that this site be considered for housing a branch of the Campbell County Library, the Campbell County Historical Society, a recreational complex partnering with the YMCA or similar organization as well as Northern Kentucky Senior Citizens. This multi-purpose facility could be built at NO COST to taxpayers.

We can do “Great Things for Campbell County”, and still be fiscally responsible. If elected I will vote for representation on the CVG Board and SD1 Board, without hesitation. I will also make sure ALL of Campbell County’s economic development funds, STAY in Campbell County.  This would be in contrast to the Republicans on the Fiscal Court who gave our economic development money from Frankfort to help Covington build a walking path.

As a small business owner for 12 years in Campbell County, I have provided payroll and bookkeeping services for many small businesses. I know firsthand the challenges they face.  I have served as a School Board Member for almost 18 years and Board Chair for 12 years.  I have also worked with the ALL “A” Classic for 25 years raising scholarship funds for student athletes. With my business and Board Chair experience, I have the proven ability to read complex balance sheets and work within a budget.

We need to elect Commissioners who are service oriented, fiscally responsible and responsive to the needs of all of Campbell County and all of its citizens.
