FTPD Make Drug Arrests, Point Out Hotspots for Drug Activity

NKY has been the epicenter of the recent heroin epidemic hitting the Midwest/Wikipedia

Fort Thomas Police made several drug arrests earlier this month, involving public ingestion of and intoxication from heroin and other drugs while in Fort Thomas, the Enquirer has reported.

Cindy Starr, of New Richmond, Ohio, was arrested on Sept. 2 in the Fort Thomas Plaza parking lot for possession of heroin, and Stacy Smitson, of Dayton, Kentucky, was arrested on Sept. 4, for public intoxication by a controlled substance, and later charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, prescription controlled substances not in proper container, and amphetamine.

Police found Smitson sitting in the road on N. Grand Avenue, according to the Enquirer's report, which sourced a recent police report. The same police report indicated that, in total, Smitson was found in possession of 13 pills and two needles.

In the report, Lt. Rich Whitford of the FTPD pointed to areas like Fort Thomas Plaza or Newport Pavilion, which sit at or near interstate on- and off-ramps, as potential "hotspots" for drug activity.

FTPD remains insistent that residents report any suspicious behavior in areas like these or around the community.
