The
moniker “Cabbage Night” refers to a tradition in Ontario from the
mid-20th century whereby teenagers would uproot cabbage from local
farmers and throw it about for general mischief. “Mischief Night”, as
it is commonly referred to, dates back to the late 18th century,
celebrations of which have varied in time and revelry but typically have
occurred on or about the 30th of October. Unfortunately, Fort Thomas
is not immune to this inane tradition. However, if you want to “save”
your pumpkins this year, then be sure to take them to the armory in
advance of being cabbaged and allow them to participate in the annual
Fort Thomas Recreation Department’s Jack-O-Lantern Walk.
For
those readers who may not know, the Jack-O-Lantern Walk is a wooded
trail lit with 1,000 luminaries and more than 200 carved pumpkins. This
family-friendly and fun tradition takes place at the Tower Park tennis

Entrance is Tower Park Tennis Courts
Free Admissions, refreshments and fall family photos.
In case of rain the walk will be in the Armory

If
you’d like to enter your masterpiece into the contest, drop off your
cleaned carved jack-o-lantern on Wednesday October 29th from 7:30am-7pm
in Tower Park at the armory.
Prizes will be awarded in
various categories including Scary, Whatever, Unusual, Ghoulish,
Traditional, Cutest, Creative, Characters/Faces, Themes and Scenes.

Best of Show- $25 cash Prize
1st,2nd,3rd place winners in each category
Assorted pumpkin prizes
Winners will be notified. Prize pick-up on Friday October 31st 8 am – 3:30pm.
