Man With Fort Thomas Ties Charged with Attempted Murder

Stan Van Lierop. Facebook.
A day after SWAT busted into a home off Memorial Parkway in Newport to save a woman from her fiancé, another man has been charged with attempted murder less than a mile from there. Thursday's hostage situation occurred in the 20 block of Wilson Road, while this incident occurred close to 24 hours later in the 100 block of Memorial Parkway.

A: 100 block of Memorial Parkway. B: 20 block of Wilson Road. The two incidents are .7 miles away from one another, but occurred in Bellevue and Newport, respectively.
Police say Stan Van Lierop attacked his wife with a knife. Her teenage son called 911 around 2:30 AM and reported the attack by his father. The 13-year-old son tried to intervene during the attack and was also injured, police said. The mother and son were transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Vanlierop is the property manager at Christ Church in Fort Thomas.

"Just seemed like a normal family," neighbor Bradey Wilson said in an interview with WLWT's Karin Johnson.

"For the most part, he looked like a decent father, good father and it just blows my mind that something like would happen," Wilson said.

Van Lierop was taken to the Campbell County jail and is facing an attempted murder charge.
He is being held on $1 million bond.
