Mama on a Budget: Ruth Moyer Santa House TONIGHT

“SANTA! I know him” –Elf

We went shopping the other day and my daughter saw something she wanted. She is only 2 so this is the first year where she finally understands the concept of “if I ask for this item then mom will tell Santa and Santa will bring it to me”. (It’s a great concept.) It should totally work in theory except for when she asks for something like a pony, or a car and not a toy car or a Barbie Mobile but a Mercedes C-Class that she points to while we’re driving- true story.  But, she promises, if only I can ask Santa in person, maybe he will bring me the luxury model in white with the black leather interior (I may be ad-libbing some here, although not much).

This is where Santa House comes to the rescue. For more than 35 years, Moyer PTO has sponsored Santa House, Moyer’s biggest fundraiser, and also hosts Mr. and Mrs. Santa Clause who, hopefully, will delicately inform my daughter that no, in fact, a Mercedes and a Pony just don’t travel well via sleigh so she won’t be getting these items for Christmas!

However, for those of you with more realistic items on your Christmas shopping list and those of you who want to support elementary education, below is your user’s guide to Santa House which begins tonight:

Bakery- The Santa House Bakery is just the place to find baked pies, cookies,
brownies, breads, and candies, all just in time for Thanksgiving.

Basket Raffle- Family Fun baskets, Lego Time, and American Girl baskets are just a few baskets you can bid on.

Children's Boutique
- Let your children enter a magical place where they get to shop with NO ADULTS allowed!  Escorted by one of Santa's Elves, children can shop for gifts for the whole family and then have them gift wrapped all without you knowing what they have bought. For all the "guys" in your family, there is the Children's Boutique Men and Boys area.  From dads and grandpas to brothers and cousins, there are gifts for everyone!  There are gifts for the sports lover, the outdoorsman, the car fanatic, and loads of toys for little boys.  For all the "gals" in your family, there is the Children's Boutique Women and Girl's area. Pick out gifts for mom, grandma, sisters, aunts, cousins, or your favorite teacher! Prices range from 25 cents to $5.00 so let your children complete all of their Christmas shopping at Moyer's Santa House!

Children’s Craft Shop- All crafts are $1.00.  Buy $3.00 or more in crafts and receive a free red holiday gift bag craft.  If you don’t have time to finish everything at Santa House you can take home your supplies and finish up at your convenience.  Whether you like to paint, color, glue, bead, or scratch your own new creative designs, we have something fun for all ages.

Holiday Shoppes- This boutique area offers hand-made items made by Moyer parents, families, and friends and by generous donors in the community.  Anything from knit scarves and hats to holiday wreaths to Highlands and UK spirit items to embroidered/hand-painted/hand- stitched holiday and everyday goodies to pre-decorated themed Christmas trees can be found in the Shoppes.

North Pole Café
- Come to the cafeteria for a bite to eat after games and shopping.

Pictures with Santa- Friday, November 22, 6:00pm – 9:00pm
Saturday, November 23, 10:00am – 3:00pm Santa will have to briefly step away to feed his reindeer at Noon on Saturday.
PICTURE PRICING: Printed and Framed Photo - $5.00, Photo on CD - $5.00, Photo and CD Package - $8.00

The money raised from Santa House goes directly to purchasing the “extras” that are not funded by state or local taxes such as a Success Maker Lab, Smart Boards, Playground Equipment, Red Ribbon Week and Kentucky Kids Day.

Ruth Moyer Santa House begins tonight from 6-9pm and runs tomorrow (November 22) from 10am-3pm at Ruth Moyer Elementary School (219 Highland Ave., Fort Thomas, KY 41075).  So, make your list, check it twice, and come to Moyer, it will be nice.
