AMBER ALERT: NKY Police Searching for Missing Infant
A 20-day-old infant is missing after a car was stolen from a Florence gas station Thursday afternoon.
Authorities said they have found the baby reported missing Thursday after a vehicle he was inside was stolen at a Florence gas station.
Via WCPO: Boone County officials said the baby was found safe in Kenton County. No other information was released at this time.
The theft happened at 4:11 p.m. at the Speedway gas station at 7819 US 42. A multi-state AMBER Alert was issued at 5:40 p.m. and canceled when the baby was found at about 7 p.m.
The baby, named Henry Flores, is 20 days old and was in a car seat in the backseat wearing a white onesie and gray pants.
Authorities took the newborn's mom to the Florence Police Department's headquarters after the initial incident. The baby's father works in Ohio and made his way to the station shortly after, officers said.
FBI agents were also at the department.
Police said the car was stolen after the mother walked inside the gas station with her 2-year-old to pay. Surveillance video shows an unknown person with a black coat get into her car seconds later and leave the parking lot westbound on US 42 toward the interstate.
The baby was in a dark blue 2001 Volkswagen Passat, stolen from the Speedway gas station at 7819 US-42 in Florence, reports say, around 4:30 p.m. The vehicle was last seen heading westbound on 42, toward the interstate.
The car is registered under the license plate reading 000PZR.
