Blue Marble Books to participate in new global charity campaign

Blue Marble Books will take part in a new global charity campaign Tuesday.

The bookstore said it is very excited this year to be a part of #GivingTuesday, a global effort dedicated to giving back to communities.


The Blue Marble's effort will be a canned goods drive to benefit Brighton Center.

Representatives from the bookstore said when customers bring in a canned good, they will be able to save 10 percent on any hardcover purchase(s).

The canned goods drive will run from through Dec. 24.

The Blue Marble said it is making it easy for customers to help others while saving on their purchases.

2014 marks the five-year anniversary for American Express’s Small Business Saturday, and Blue Marble Books is pleased to participate in this Shop Local promotion.

The Blue Marble said shopping local is a great way for customers and local businesses to invest in their communities. Shopping local is shopping smart.

Blue Marble representatives said to further enhance the holiday shopping season, the Blue Marble is bringing back the Shop Local/Indies First campaign, and the store will have some authors and illustrators coming in to volunteer as booksellers throughout the holiday season.

On select Saturdays and Sundays customers will be able to shop the bookstore as local authors and illustrators lead them through the store.

The Blue Marble had ten authors and illustrators scheduled to come in throughout the holiday season. The following four will be in the store on Dec. 13.

  • Will Hillenbrand 2 p.m. - 3 p.m.
  • Sally Derby 3 p.m. - 4 p.m.
  • Linda Leopold Strauss 3 p.m. - 4 p.m.
  • Beth Gully 1 p.m. – 3 p.m

Blue Marble Books has been serving the Northern Kentucky and Greater Cincinnati area since June 1979.
