Extreme Cold Stretches Emergency Shelter's Resources Thin

The Emergency Shelter of Northern Kentucky has issued a call for help as temperatures plummet this week./ESNKY

Plummeting temperatures this week have caused the Emergency Shelter of Northern Kentucky to reach out to the community for assistance.

ESNKY needs sugar and styrofoam bowls, they said in a Facebook post Thursday.

"With the recent drop in temperature we have seen a large increase in nightly attendance," they said. "In addition to sheltering these larger crowds, ESNKY has been opening during the day for those who need to get out of this bitter cold."

The increased traffic and open hours have caused a the shelter's supplies to run low.

"It is only because of your continued support that we are able to save lives and support those in need within our community," they said.

Donations can be taken to their location, at 634 Scott Blvd. in Downtown Covington.

  1. Is there also a shelter in Campbell County at this time that might need some assistance as well?
