A group in Fort Thomas is working to raise money to install batting cages and pitching tunnels at Winkler Field, the new baseball facility located adjacent to Woodfill Elementary.
This Saturday, they will be holding their first fundraiser for the project.
The pitching and batting facilities are not currently accounted for in the city's parks budget, which is why the group is spearheading a fundraiser. The fundraiser will be a rummage sale that will take place from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 28, at 241 Grandview in Bellevue.
"It will be a asset to every organization that use the facility to have a safe protected area on both sides for there pitchers to warm up," said Vince Turner, who is involved in the fundraiser, "It will make (Winkler) not just a game field but a training facility."
Donations will be accepted on the following days:
Saturday, February 14th from 12:00-2:00
Saturday, February 21st from 12:00-2:00
The final drop off time will be Thursday evening, Feb. 26, from 3:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m.
