Matthew Haskamp, Principal at Ruth Moyer Elementary, has been offered and will accept the position formerly filled by Dale Mueller.
Haskamp will also assume the role of Assistant Principal at Highlands High School, a position he previously held from 2008-2012.
In an email to parents of Moyer Elementary, Haskamp said that the decision was a tough one because of his fondness of the school and Moyer community. He goes on, "As most of you know, I am very passionate about athletics, so I felt that I needed to explore this option. I hope to continue to serve in this community for many years to come."
Fort Thomas Matters will update this story.
Read Haskamp's email in its entirety.
For the past three years, I have had the amazing opportunity to be the principal of Moyer Elementary. I was so blessed to be a part of this family of teachers, parents and students. The Moyer community is one that is passionate about student success in all areas, and everyone welcomed me with open arms. For this, I will be forever grateful.
I have enjoyed my time at Moyer tremendously. It is, therefore, with mixed emotions that I am writing to inform you that I have been offered and decided to accept the position of Athletic Director/Assistant Principal at Highlands High School. The decision for me to return to the high school level to serve in this position was a very difficult one for my family and me. As most of you know, I am very passionate about athletics, so I felt that I needed to explore this option. I hope to continue to serve in this community for many years to come.
Moyer is, and will be, in good hands. Mr. Kirchner and our Council will begin the process of establishing a search for a new principal in the very near future. Our teachers will continue to work hard to serve our students, and our students will continue do what they always do—put their best foot forward every day. They truly represent the best of us.
I am confident that our District and Council will choose a strong enthusiastic leader as our next principal. Just as I was, this individual will be very lucky to join the amazing Moyer community. I will remain at Moyer until July 1 and will work very closely with our teachers and district personnel to ensure the summer transition goes smoothly. I am confident that we will make safe plans for the beginning phases of the construction project and that Moyer will not miss a beat. Great things are happening at Moyer!
Once again, thank you for welcoming Katie, Julianne, Emily and me into the Moyer family. I am happy that I can say I was a small part in the story of this great school. Wish us luck on this next chapter of our life as I move across town to Highlands. I am sure I will be seeing you around, and I look forward to seeing your children when they get to high school!
All my best,
