NKU to host Journalism in the Digital Age summer workshop

NKU’s Journalism Department is hosting its annual Journalism in the Digital Age summer workshop during the third week of June 2015.

The workshop offers area high school students the opportunity to gain dynamic and valuable instruction in the highly competitive world of digital news gathering, writing, video, photography and reporting.

Northern Kentucky University College of Informatics

This year’s Journalism in the Digital Age workshop will take place Monday, June 15 – Friday, June 19 from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at Northern Kentucky University Griffin Hall

The Journalism in the Digital Age Workshop immerses students in wide ranging topics from interviewing and video editing to news writing, photography, journalism ethics and law, and digital media.

This year’s workshop will also include instruction on how to create charts and infographics that tell stories with numbers.

This is the seventh year that the Northern Kentucky University College of Informatics has held the workshop.

Workshop participants create photo slide shows, videos and text stories based on campus interviews, with guidance from NKU faculty and students, as well as local media professionals.

The stories are posted to the Journalism in the Digital Age website while NKU students document the week in daily blog, video, photo and social media posts.

This year's workshop is funded as a joint effort of the NKU College of Informatics and the NKU Communication Department.
