The Midway Cafe announced two weeks ago that they would be rebranding their concept and reopening their doors soon. Now, owners Matt Albers and Dave Edmonds have announced an opening date.
That day is Friday, July 3rd at 5 p.m. Additionally they will open at 8 a.m. on the Fourth of July to participate in the "Fourth at the Fort" festivities by selling can beer and giving away cool, Midway gear. (Here is everything you need to know about "Fourth at the Fort" in Fort Thomas.)
The Midway Cafe is located at 1017 S. Fort Thomas Avenue in the heart of the Midway District.
"Our decor is going to be completely different than any bar in Northern Kentucky. Period. We're trying to bring a different feel into Fort Thomas that other places don't have," Edmonds said in a previous FTM article.
|A picture on The Midway Cafe Facebook page hints to the decor. Previously, Edmonds had described it as "like a 1920's speak-easy"|
"We are really excited to be a part of the Fort Thomas community and look forward to meeting the people of the neighborhood," said Albers. "Our goal is to get to know all our customers on a first name basis and be the "locals" bar. We want the midway district to become more of an entertainment district by teaming up with the other midway district bars."
According to Albers and Edmonds, The "new" Midway Cafe will have plenty of TVs for sports and the restaurant will be non-smoking. "We're trying to buy a lot of items local and fresh as much as we possibly can," said Albers.
