Highlander Event Center to Host Fundraiser to Aid in Woman's Cancer Battle

The Highland Event Center will host a fundraiser for a young woman who was recently diagnosed with Glioblastoma Multiforme.

Liz Lothrop, 20, is Ellen Hempleman's roommate at the University of Cincinnati.

Both Lothrop and Hempleman have ties to Fort Thomas. Hempleman is a Highlands graduate, and Lothrop volunteered her time to help create the Disabled American Veterans Auxillary display at the Fort Thomas Antique and Design Center.

Lothrop was diagnosed with a brain tumor and doctors were not able to successfully remove all of the tumor during surgery.

Organizers said the fundraiser will be held at 6:30 p.m. Aug. 27.

Organizers said The Carter New Band and The Dan Varner Band will be performing. The fundraiser will also feature a silent auction and a cash bar.

Aside from raising money to help in Lothrop's fight against cancer, the event will also be celebrating Lothrop's 21st birthday.

Anyone interested in purchasing tickets can do so at the door, in advance at the Fort Thomas Antique and Design Center. Tickets can also be purchased by emailing Ellen Hempleman at Ellenhempleman888@gmail.com or calling Ellen at 859-781-6110.

The purchase of a ticket covers admission and enters you into a raffle.
