Kentucky's Top Spots for the Labor Day Fireworks

via Everfest

This Sunday, September 6, 2015, is the official last blast of summer. The annual Western & Southern/WEBN Fireworks presented by Cincinnati Bell at Riverfest – best known simply as “the fireworks” to locals – will bring approximately 500,000 people to the riverfront. This year's firework display begins at 9:05pm and will not be televised live, therefore you will need to seek out a spot to catch the event live on Sunday.

The Ohio river will certainly put fireworks fans in the middle of the action. If you don't have a boat, or a friend with a boat, make a reservation with Queen City Riverboat Cruises or take a Celebrations Riverfest Cruise. BB Riverboats' cruises are sold out, so Queen City Riverboats or Celebrations are your best bet for experiencing the show from the water.

If you prefer to stay on dry land, the options are seemingly endless for viewing from the Kentucky side. Many people enjoy hunting down a spot on the flood wall, or spending time at residences with a view of the river. If you're still looking for a place to spend the evening, here are some of our top picks for enjoying Sunday's show from the Kentucky:

Family Fireworks Fest – Newport Central Catholic
The festivities kick off at 5:00pm, and last until the fireworks conclude. This event also features family friendly games and live entertainment. Cans, bottles, and coolers are not permitted at the event, but food and drink will be available to purchase. Admission is $3 at the gate, and children under 5 are free. All proceeds go towards the NCC Tuition Assistance Fund.

Fireworks Buffet – 360 Restaurant at the Radisson Hotel
For $70, you can indulge in a buffet from 6:00pm until 9:00pm, and also enjoy one of the tri-state's best views of the river. Check out their website to make reservations and get a sneak peek at the menu.

Labor Day Party – Radisson Hotel
Local non-profit Children Inc. will be hosting a party on the hotel's 16th floor. Between 7:00pm and 11:00pm, you will enjoy an impressive view of the fireworks, food, 2 drink tickets, and free parking. Tickets are $35 and can be purchased online.

VIP Tent Event Package – Mitchell's Fish Market at Newport on the Levee
$125 gains you exclusive access to Mitchell's VIP tent, 4 drink tickets, 5 interactive food stations, and a private viewing area for the big show. The party lasts from 6:00pm until 10:00pm, and tickets can be purchased online.

RiverBlast2015 – Newport Aquarium
RiverBlast is not only a great way to enjoy the fireworks, but also serves as a major fundraiser for the Gateway Foundation, which was created to aid students attending Gateway Community & Technical College. The event includes a private viewing box at the Aquarium, appetizers, full bar, a multi-course sit-down dinner, and dessert following the fireworks. Attendees can also enjoy full use of the Aquarium throughout the evening, and a silent auction.

LaborDay Launch Party – Bar Louie at Newport on the Levee
Bar Louie gives attendees two options for their evening: the VIP Upper Deck for $60 per person, or the Lower Deck for $20. The VIP Upper Deck tickets provide you access to a viewing party on their private patio from 7:00pm until 10:00pm. Your ticket also includes 1 menu item, 1 drink, and entrance to the exclusive after-party downstairs until 2am. The Lower Deck option gains you access to a private viewing and after party in the old Jefferson Hall space from 7:00pm to 2:00am. Food will not be available to Lower Deck attendees. If you have other fireworks viewing plans but don't want to end your night too early, you are welcome to join the after party for $5. The event will feature a DJ and the band 4th Day Echo.
