Ruth Moyer Santa House Has a New Location

By Jessica Duke

Ruth Moyer Elementary, one of the three Blue-Ribbon Elementary schools in Fort Thomas, has a history of tradition. Santa House, first organized over 40 years ago, is Moyer PTO's single fundraiser that helps cover expenses beyond the school's operating budget, such as software, iPads and playground equipment.

With Ruth Moyer Elementary currently under construction, Christie Hosea and Michelle Tinkler, Santa House Co-Chairs, partnered with the Fort Thomas Recreation Department to move Santa House to the Armory.

That said, the festivities will be as merry as ever.

In addition to Tinkler and Hosea, more than fifty other Moyer moms and dads have volunteered to make sure this Santa House is as magical as is the holiday season.

The annual fundraiser for Ruth Moyer Elementary is scheduled to take place November 20 from 6-9 p.m. and Saturday November 21 from 10 a.m. - 3 p.m.

While the layout will be quite different at the Armory, the festivities will be familiar.  There will be ample shopping opportunities, games, prizes, and, as always, Santa will be in attendance for a breakfast and to pose for pictures with the kids.

The list below shows all the various activities ongoing at this year’s Santa House:

The Children’s Gift Shop – 5th grade elves will escort children through the gift shop as adults wait outside or enjoy a cup of coffee across the way at the North Pole Café.  As children shop by themselves for family members including pets, they will be excited to have all their holiday shopping done by Thanksgiving.

Mistletoe Market – Find that one-of-a-kind handmade item for someone special on your Christmas list.

Santa’s Workshop – Children can create a craft to give as a gift or to keep as a memory while parents continue to stroll through Mistletoe Market.

Blitzen’s Bakery – Don’t spend your precious time in the kitchen during the holidays—buy homemade bakery to take to Thanksgiving dinner or put in the freezer for your holiday gathering.

Silent Auction – With so many unique items, gift certificates and services to bid upon, you will surely find another gift or two for someone on your holiday gift list.

North Pole Café – A convenient spot to take a break with delicious food and drink to fuel you for more shopping and games at Santa House.

Pictures with Santa – Capture the moment and the 2015 holiday season with a picture of your child and Santa Clause.

Reindeer Games – Almost double the games this year with the addition of another bouncy house and gaga ball – plenty of fun for everyone.

Basket Raffle – Take a chance!  At least 10 spectacular themed baskets are up for grabs for lucky raffle winners to give or keep.

Other fun Santa House events:
o Build a Gingerbread House with Mrs. Clause.
o Breakfast with Santa.
o (New!) Breakfast with Superheroes.
o Luncheon with Ben-Gals Cheerleaders.

  1. Such a joyous event definitely needs a lot more space in order to accommodate all the enthusiastic and eager visitors, and to carry out even more fun activities for everyone to enjoy. Hence, moving to a new location with ample room around is a rational decision in view of a very welcoming response every single year. Though the whole process might be time-consuming and requires a great deal of effort, it is all in the spirit of Christmas.
