Police Chase Through Fort Thomas



Fort Thomas police were in pursuit of a motorcycle that sped through Fort Thomas, Sunday afternoon. The chase went up Highland Avenue from Grand and then north down Memorial Parkway

A witness estimated speeds of over 50 miles per hour.

The motorcycle was caught heading north, just before the Daniel Carter Beard Bridge around 4:45 p.m.

It is not yet clear why the motorcyclist was running from police.

UPDATE: (5:40 p.m.):

Fort Thomas police originally stopped four motorcyclists near mile marker 1 on I-471 because they were traveling at a high rate of speed.

One motorcyclist stopped, but three others began to flee, which started the chase.

Two motorcyclists led police into Fort Thomas and one of those men were eventually stopped just short of the Daniel Carter Beard Bridge. Bellevue and Newport assisted with a road block. No crashes or injuries occurred.

The other driver flipped his vehicle around and began heading south and Newport Police pursued him.

In all, one has been arrested and will be charged with Wanton Endangerment and Fleeing and Evading Police, both felonies, as well as multiple moving violations.

Police have information on the other motorcyclists and will seek them out for questioning.
