Small businesses do a lot to help our community, and, on Nov. 28, the Saturday after Thanksgiving, we’ll have an opportunity to thank them.
That’s because Nov. 28 is Small Business Saturday, the Saturday after Black Friday.
Here's what some Fort Thomas small business owners and economic leaders are saying:
Seth Cutter, Campbell County Economic Director:
"According to the U.S. Small Business Administration, more than half of all U.S. sales come from the more than 28 million small businesses in America. We’re lucky in Campbell County to have hundreds of local restaurants, boutiques, shops, farms, wineries, offices, and startups who have chosen to locate their businesses here. Shopping small and supporting local businesses is essential all year long—not just one day of the year.
Remember that more than two-thirds of your dollar stays in the local economy when you shop small, compared to 43% when you spend at a non-local business (according to a Civic Economics study). Armed with this knowledge, you can feel even better about patronizing Campbell County businesses over the next few weeks; after all, these are our friends and family!"
"Local businesses are the heart of America. Individuals following their passions and creativity and turning it into a livelihood; I'll support that any day!"
Lori Valentine, Owner, Fort Thomas Coffee:
"Being a small business owner can be so hard! But feeling rooted in this wonderful community and serving friends and neighbors is the reward! There's nothing like walking into FTC on a busy morning and bumping into old friends and meeting new friends. Supporting local business ensures that our sweet, unique town stays close knit and also welcoming to those new to the area."
