Movement Church is on the Move from Woodfill Elementary

Movement Church's new home: 415 E. 8th St
The Movement Church, which held its first service in March of 2014 out of Woodfill Elementary, is
moving to a permanent new home in Newport.

The church will be moving into 415 E. 8th St, the building that was formerly St. Mark’s Lutheran.  Josh Tandy, pastor of Movement Church, says that the move “is a huge opportunity for us to be in a space 24/7 and something that will only better serve us in our mission of Helping People Find and Follow Jesus; that said leaving the great facility at Woodfill and the better people is very bittersweet.”

Tandy, therefore, reached out to FTM to ensure that a proper and public “Thank You”was delivered to the district, its leadership, and specifically to Woodfill Elementary and its staff, most notably Principal Keith Faust and custodians Paul Adplanalp and Darrell Simpson.

Tandy, who established the church in 2013, was always impressed by the Fort Thomas School District and the welcoming people who leased his budding church the space.

“FTSD didn't have to rent us space, but they did and a great relationship was formed. We worked primarily with Jerry Wissman at the District Office and he was always professional, courteous and easy to work with.”

Tandy went on to say, “I can't speak highly enough about Principal Faust and his staff at Woodfill.”

He tells the story of their first Sunday of services when the night before an inch of ice had fallen, coating the sidewalks and parking lot at the school.  However, before he could even arrive, the custodial staff of Woodfill had already cleared and salted the pavement.  Tandy refers to Adplanalp and Simpson as “the real rock stars,” calling them “more than just professional and reliable.”
