S. Fort Thomas Avenue Shut Down Due to Oil Spill

FTM file.
A Rumpke truck driving northbound on S. Fort Thomas Avenue from US-27 was leaking hydraulic oil from its carrier and has one lane on S. Fort Thomas Avenue shut down for through traffic, according to Campbell County Dispatch.

According to police, a truck was spilling the oil from the Shell Gas Station on Alexandria Pike and finally came to a rest on S. Fort Thomas Avenue.

"They said if you drive on it, it's like ice and it will cause wrecks. They put sand type stuff on it to absorb it. They ran out of that stuff so they're waiting on another company to bring more. It will be blocked off for many hours," said Randy Adams, who was on scene.

Police were directing traffic near Woodfill Elementary after a few cars were spinning out due to the slick conditions.

Jami Anna, of Jami Anna Insurance, said that when she was heading to work today at 8:30 a.m., police were already directing traffic to help rivers avoid the oil spill. The truck came to a rest in front of her office at 1136 S. Fort Thomas.
