If your regular route takes you across the Memorial Parkway bridge, then you will be happy to know that the bridge restoration project remains on schedule despite recent wet weather.  The bridge is scheduled to reopen August 16th.  It has been closed since June 20th.

The project involves the installation of a new concrete bridge deck overlay, replacement of bridge joints, and the addition of a sidewalk for pedestrian safety.  Work began May 23rd.  The project is being completed by Prus Construction Company, of Cincinnati, OH.

While the bridge will reopen to traffic mid-August, the entire project is expected to be completed by the first of September.

Nancy Wood of the Kentucky Department of Transportation District Six reported that sidewalk work still needed to be completed.  “The sidewalks that are being installed will provide pedestrian safety and provide better connectivity in this community,” said Wood.

Updates on lane closures will continue to be provided to motorists by electronic message boards.
