Safe Ship Newport, a packing and shipping franchise, is relocating approximately three miles from the company’s current Monmouth Street location to 1504 Alexandria Pike in Fort Thomas in the former Anita's Mexican Restaurant.

Anita's owner, Pedro Meza, bought the building which was formerly Frisch's Big Boy in 2012 for $400,000.

According to Campbell County PVA records, The Property Solutions Group, then bought the building for $440,000 early this year.

Safe Ship will occupy 4,000 sq. ft. of modern retail and warehouse space at their new location.

The company is owned by Newport resident, Elliott Heil. The company has three employees. He said  the relocation comes as a result of the company’s growth and need for additional storage space, as well as a larger and more serviceable lot for U-Haul Truck Rentals.

“We are thrilled to be moving into a space that is an iconic Fort Thomas building," he said.

"The building has undergone extensive renovations which will accommodate Safe Ship’s needs and allow for maximum efficiency and flexibility within the space. Ultimately, the relocation is vital to our mission to enhance the Safe Ship experience. This facility will allow Safe Ship to better serve our clients while innovating the company’s service offerings.”

The move is effective January 1, 2017. According to their website, Safe Ship offers world-class customer service for all packing, shipping, and moving needs, while specializing in the handling of fine art and high value antiques. Safe Ship has built a significant client base servicing the dispersal of estates.

Heil has owned Safe Ship for two years and has worked for the company for six. He bought into the business a month after graduating from NKU.

"I jumped in quite literally with both feet into my business choice," said Heil, who attributes his ability to do so from his education at Northern Kentucky University.

Heil's father, Bob, who is the Chair of the Northern Kentucky Chamber of Commerce, owns the building as well as the building next door which leases space to KLH Engineers, OMEGA Processing and RWI Transportation.

Heil is Principal, President and CEO of KLH Engineers.

"I'm proud of my son and of his entrepreunierial spirit," said Bob Heil. "My partners and I are pleased to be able to help an entrepreneur to acquire the property and help him build out, while at the same time saving a recognizable structure in Fort Thomas to make good use of it. It's nice to be able to repurpose the building for hopefully what will be decades to come."

Safe Ship is a Certified U.S. Post Office Retail Postal Center, FedEx Authorized Ship Center, UPS Authorized Shipping Outlet, DHL Authorized Shipping Center, Greyhound GPX Oversize Package Center, Truck Freight Hub, U-Haul Truck Renter and your home and small business headquarters – all in one convenient location.
