Join Blue Marble Books' Mock Caldecott Awards

Blue Marble Books is hosting a Mock Caldecott Award event this Wednesday.

In anticipation of the American Library Association's (ALA) Youth Media Award announcement January 23 (think Newbery, Caldecott, Printz and Coretta Scott King Book Awards), Blue Marble Books is hosting its annual Mock Caldecott Awards this Wednesday, January 18.

And you (as long as you're an adult) are invited!

This is an advertisement.
Each year the ALA "honors books, videos, and other outstanding materials for children and teens." These designations help guide book buyers, parents, educators and librarians when selecting materials. Committees composed of librarians and literature experts select the award-winning books. This year's announcements take place Monday, January 23 at 8 a.m.

Last year's Newbery winner was "Last Stop on Market Street," written by Matt de la Pena and illustrated by Christian Robinson. Last year's Caldecott winner was "Finding Winnie: The True Story of the World's Most Famous Bear," illustrated by Sophie Blackall and written by Lindsay Mattick.

You can join the fun Wednesday, January 18 at Blue Marble Books. In addition to picking the year's favorite picture books, attendees also will discuss the Newbery, Printz, Coretta Scott King and other awards. Snack and drinks will be available.

If you have any suggestions on what should be in the preview pile, call Blue Marble Books at (859) 781-0602 or email bluemarble@fuse.net.
