Southwest Airlines has announced that it will be coming to the CVG today.

David Harvey, Managing Director, Business Development at Southwest Airlines said at a press conference today at 3:00 p.m. that they will be offering eight non-stop flights daily as they first enter the market.

Harvey said that they will fly to Chicago-Midway five times daily and Baltimore-DC three times daily.

Flights will begin June 4.

"People are asking about Florida and West Coast flights already," he said. "Let's make sure that these first flights are successful and then we'll see how things play out."

Harvey said that the initial flights will give customers access, via a connection, to 100 cities and the lower 48 states plus Mexico and that rates will be available tomorrow.

"Just for fun, do some price shopping tonight and then do it again tomorrow to see how the prices will drop," he said.

Southwest Airlines is the world's largest low-cost carrier, headquartered in Dallas, Texas. Harvey touted the company's policies on no bag fees, no exchange fees or blackout dates.

"We want to bring in low fares and high service," he said. "We're not in the business of nickel or diming passengers."
