State Swimming, Diving Meet Results

Murphy takes runner-up in 1-Meter Diving

Freshman Finn Murphy had the best finish for the Highlands Swimming and Diving Teams at the state meet Saturday at the University of Louisville.

Murphy took runner-up honors in the 1-Meter Diving event with an overall score of 389.35 in the finals. Champion Gus Staubitz, a senior from Covington Holy Cross, scored 432.9 points.


Overall, the Bluebirds finished 16th with 50 points and the Ladybirds finished 18th with 35 points. Louisville St. Xavier won the boys side for the 29th consecutive year with 453.5 points and Covington Catholic finished second with 204.5. Sacred Heart won the girls side with 372.5 points and Notre Dame took runner-up honors with 265.

Highlands senior Beth Ann Griffith placed in the Top 10 in two events. Abby Weyer finished 7th in 1-Meter Diving event.

The top 16 finishers score in each event. Griffith finished ninth in the 100-yard Freestyle in 52.81 seconds and 10th in the 200 Free in one minute, 54.15 seconds. Sophomore Brendan Conley took ninth in the 500 Freestyle in 4:46.10.
