Paolucci has lived in Fort Thomas most of his life. He graduated in 2013 from Highlands High School and was attending Thomas Moore College working toward a degree in criminal justice when he put that on hold to try out for the police department.

Growing up in the city, he had the opportunity to get to know both Chief Daly and Lieutenant Rich Whitford, and was high school friends with the daughter of Officer Chris Goshorn. He says these connections offered him a great opportunity to ask questions and learn more about his dream profession.
Paolucci thanked his family for their support and encouragement and said he is excited and looking forward to "the academy, getting back here and being on the street as an officer."
"Joe is a hometown boy, and it’s always nice when you have a chance to bring a hometown person on board within our city. I grew up with Joe’s mom and dad and I want to say to him, 'Congratulations, I am very proud of you,'" said Chief Daly.
Paolucci’s badge number will be number 4451.
